Transformative Journey: Exploring the Intersection of Technology and Economics at ISC 2023

Participating in the 4th International Short Course (ISC) 2023 was an enlightening experience for me, hosted by FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. As a fifth-semester bachelor student, this event marked a transformative journey for students like me, transitioning from theoretical knowledge to practical insights. The ISC 2023 commenced with great enthusiasm as participants from various corners of the world converged on the vibrant city of Yogyakarta—esteemed personalities.
The course curriculum was thoughtfully designed to encompass a wide array of topics. Each course session was a deep dive into a specialized field, from Islamic digital finance to blockchain technology and from financial crime in the cyber world to digital banking transformation. We learned not only from academics but also from practitioners, gaining an understanding of how theory translates into real-world regulations and policies.
The ISC 2023 wasn't just about absorbing knowledge; it was a platform for enriching discussions, sharing experiences, and building connections with peers and experts from various countries. The cybersecurity and cyber resilience course by M. Andri Setiawan, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., was one of my favorite courses. He has incredibly enlightened me in understanding the importance of safeguarding digital assets in our increasingly interconnected world. He emphasized, "Even if we are only an economist (study economics), we must equip ourselves with technology." This quote resonated with many of us, underlining the significance of technological literacy in today's interconnected world. In the words of Mr. Edhi Purnawan, the ISC 2023 exemplified the fusion of economics and technology, an invaluable lesson that will undoubtedly shape our future. We left Yogyakarta with a wealth of knowledge, a broader perspective on Islamic digital finance, cybersecurity, and data protection, and a determination to equip ourselves with technology as we continue our academic journey.
The ISC 2023 was more than just a short course; it was a transformative experience that has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on all of us. As we return to our academic pursuits, we carry the lessons learned and a renewed passion for understanding the intersection of technology and economics.
